Senacherib's
Palace Kouyunjik Nr.Mosul, Iraq - c. 800 BC

Careful
investigations on the actual site have resulted in this restoration
of Sennacherib's palace, from a sketch by J. Ferguson. The building
is very different from the heavier structure erected by his
father, Sargon II, at Khorsabad, and a greater knowledge of
the artistic process which led to this revolution would go far
to make the past live for us.
