The
Soul and the Coffin - Tutankhamen

Pure
gold alone was deemed good enough to form the actual receptacle
for the King's remains. This innermost coffin is more than six
feet long and is of solid gold a quarter of an inch thick. The
Ba-bird pectoral representing the King's spirit and wearing
a diadem similar to that found upon the mummy itself, is of
chased gold inlaid with turquoise, lapis lazuli and carnelian.
