An
instructive example of the persistence of religious ideas is
afforded by the comparison of these two reliefs. Above is a
Hittite carving of the sky-god Teshub discovered at Babylon
- probably the spoil of war and certainly dating from very early
times; below is part of a votive tablet discovered near Frankfurt
in Germany.
